What’s the most embarrassing song in your playlist right now?
Let me look, I'm sure I've added a few, honestly. Recently, I mean, maybe it's all like the divorce dad rock, like Fuel and Creed and all that stuff, which I love. Maybe some people find that embarrassing, but I love it.
What’s your go-to comfort food on the road?
Honestly, like Chick-fil-A.
How to you kill time between sites when you’re stuck waiting around?
Nothing. Walk around or play some Xbox. We watch some TV if there are sports on or something like that.
What’s something fans would be surprised to know about what goes on behind the scenes on tour?
I think fans would be surprised to know that nothing is going on. It's just a lot of hurry up and wait. They think that you're like partying backstage, but you're just on your phone.
What's some advice you can give someone that's about to go on a tour?
Yeah. Dude, I mean, I would just say, it's a lot of fun, like soak in the city wherever you're at. It always kind of like not a lot of people get to experience that many cities in that little short of time. I’ll tell you just to go do it. Find some good books. The biggest thing is find a routine. Wake up the same time every day. Workout. Read a book. Have like a checklist. Makes your day seem kind of normal.
What’s the hardest song you’ve ever written and why?
I think, honestly, “Like I Do” was a tough one to write about by my parents. Not like crying over it writing it, it's tough to put into words, a song like that, you know? But I love the way it turned out.
What’s the toughest lyric you’ve ever written?
Yeah, the “Coal” lyric probably, but I've always liked “sweat on your skin is better than regret on your heart.” I’ve just always really liked that lyric.
Outside of music, what’s something people would be surprised to know about you?
I can solve a Rubix Cube, or at least I used to. I don’t know if I can anymore. Being honest, I’m very good at fantasy football.
What’s a big dream venue or festival or venue?
Festival? ACL (Austin City Limits). I'm born and raised in Austin and I’m playing ACL in like a week or two, so that’s exciting for us. We’re really excited about that. As for venue, it’s Red Rocks. Its always been Red Rocks. I saw a video of Mumford and Sons playing there when I was like in middle school or something. That’s the dream. So, Red Rocks for sure.
If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing right now?
I’d probably still be in operations working at Circuit of The Americas. It’s like a racetrack in Austin. Probably just working up the ladder in Sports Management.
Who is the most famous person in your contacts?
I don’t know if I’m at like a name-dropping level. I don’t know if I’m supposed to. I don’t know. But, Miranda Lambert.
Gavin Adcock or Zach Bryan in a fight?
You probably go with the military guy. I’ll stop there.
