All Hits, No Misses: VCTMS Dominates with 'Devil's/speak'

It takes heartbreak and makes it into something motivational and more positive while still allowing for grief and pain to be felt. It truly feels like a type of therapy that can only be found in connection to a song or artist that gets you on an emotional level.

Hailing from Illinois, VCTMS is a 3-part co-ed band that's been taking the heavy music scene by storm with their gnarly sound, absolute bangers, and brilliant collaborations. Their sound is a fantastic mix of hardcore, nu-metal, and hip-hop meshed all together in one. With hit after hit, we're not sure that this band even knows what a miss is, and that's no different for their latest single, "Devil's/speak," which also features the band Fox Lake's frontman, Nathan Johnson. Their sound is heavy, rough, and lyrically vulnerable, like scream therapy!

"Devil's/speak" will fulfill all of your headbanging needs. The riffs and drum line chug right along through the song, and the vocals match their pacing with ease. The lyrics are still audible even with harsh vocals, making this song one that can be enjoyed by those who like heavy music and harsh vocals when they are clear on the first listen.

Let's talk about the killer collaboration on this single, too! Fox Lake's very own Nathan Johnson is featured on this track with VCTMS, and it's a great team-up! With the added vocals from Nathan, it really takes this single to a whole new level. While I love the song without Nathan's parts as well, they only deepen the song and fill it out even more. They couldn't have picked a better vocal pairing for this track.

The sound of this single is a well-balanced mix of nu metal, post-hardcore, and darkwave with sprinkles of hip-hop. It's solid and well-produced, and the lyrics are meaningful. This song will not fail to get you moving and keep you moving till the very end. The collab doesn't feel forced or like it doesn't mesh right; it's spot-on, really. They knew exactly what to do with their sound to create an addictive flow for this song that will have you hitting repeat on it over and over!

The lyrics in "Devil's/speak" are vulnerable, but in a harsh and aggressive way. It feels like letting it all pour out. It's high energy, hitting all the notes that all VCTMS fans love and then some. It takes heartbreak and makes it into something motivational and more positive while still allowing for grief and pain to be felt. It truly feels like a type of therapy that can only be found in connection to a song or artist that gets you on an emotional level: bittersweet and there for you.

VCTMS is brimming to the top with success in their music career already with collaborations from Nathan Johnson of Fox Lake, of course, as well as Darius Tehrani from the band Spite, Emmure's Frankie Palmeri, and Marc Zelli of Paleface Swiss! Even touring with the likes of Crystal Lake, Paleface Swiss, 156/Silence, Veil Of Maya, Cane Hill, and more. I can't see them stopping or slowing down anytime soon either. Nor would I want them too!
