With her firm New York City roots and a background as a huge Camp Rock fan, solo artist gracie has turned to those beginnings to fuel her own music! But don't go into her music expecting a Camp Rock knock-off because gracie has crafted a sound all her own, based in alternative pop; think a mix of pop punk and pop rock. She makes sure to create her music "out of necessity and authenticity," never releasing a half-baked or meaningless track.

Though she has made music in the past, her debut album as a solo artist, "Miss Misfortunate," just dropped. It's everything I was hoping it would be ... and more!

"Miss Misfortunate" is an album packed with fun tunes that are much deeper than their poppy sound leads you to believe till you listen to the lyrics, in true pop-punk type fashion. With songs about heartbreak; toxic relationships; the dreaded "mommy's boys"; no longer being tied to the expectations of those who would never give the same back; and even love. All with an upbeat sound and sparkly sound effects that make it a mix of alt rock, pop punk, and outright pop. It's bittersweet, melancholy, and raw, but it's something you can both cry and dance to.

Some of my favorite songs off this album are "Gunpowder," "Amputate," and "Evergreen." I think these songs are not only deep and raw but also showcase gracie's voice best. I really love the production on "Evergreen" especially, as it has a very retro vibe to the production sound with the overlays on the sound. I really love that in songs. I love the airy feel to the chorus of "Amputate" as well, and "Gunpowder" really got me on the lyrics. But I do have to give an honorable mention to the song "Hot Air Balloon," as it has such a nice tempo to it and feels like it belongs in a coming-of-age romance film or even a romcom.

gracie might just be one of our next up-and-coming pop punk/alt rock leading ladies, and honestly, I would love that. She has a great voice and honestly one I would love to hear with other types of airy or wispy vocalists, like Billie Eilish. Her music gives me the feeling that she could land a good few sync placements in the romance, coming-of-age, young adult, and romcom types of media. Her branding is solid and cohesive, so you are not left to guess across social platforms or albums if it's her or not, and the quality of her branding and content is well-done.

I think she has what it takes to take the industry by storm like Paramore in the early 2000s and Olivia Rodrigo as a current leading female vocalist on the scene. I can't wait to see her grow more and hear what she does next! gracie is one I will be keeping my eyes on as she makes a place in the industry for herself!
