Nothing unites Friday the 13th and Valentine's Day better than a new pop-rock heartbreak anthem. On February 13th, Bailey Spinn released her latest single, "Homicide." Let's be honest, everything about the timing of this release felt perfectly set up.

This track follows the classic recipe for any good rock song. From the heavy guitar to the choppy vocals, it has everything you want in an anti-love song. The entire tone of the song, lyrics and all, perfectly match the finality that you would expect with a title like "Homicide."

Between the force of the guitar combined with the drumbeat, the track drives forward at full speed, making it almost impossible to not be tempted to completely break out into headbanging.

The weight of Bailey's vocal tones shifts throughout the song, as she moves from quiet, heavier tones into higher, echoing ones on the title word. A listener's first assumption might be to describe her tone as building from anger, though I would argue that better-fitting origins would be surrender and acceptance, as the artist recognizes the death of the relationship.

The accompanying deathly visuals of Bailey in all black pairs perfectly with her lyrics calling out love itself as the murderer. She repetitively drives the point home from the pre-chorus, leading into the chorus with lyrics like, "Love kills every time// Love killed you and I// There's been a homicide// this love killed you and I// It was a perfect crime// it's like a homicide."

Instead of celebrating love with pink and red hearts this Valentine's Day, Bailey delivered a haunting anti-love track, draped in black lace.
