A listener's first assumption might be to describe her tone as building from anger, though I would argue that better-fitting origins would be surrender and acceptance, as the artist recognizes the death of the relationship.
The accompanying deathly visuals of Bailey in all black pairs perfectly with her lyrics calling out love itself as the murderer. She repetitively drives the point home from the pre-chorus, leading into the chorus with lyrics like, "Love kills every time// Love killed you and I// There's been a homicide// this love killed you and I// It was a perfect crime// it's like a homicide."
Instead of celebrating love with pink and red hearts this Valentine's Day, Bailey delivered a haunting anti-love track, draped in black lace.
