Demon Hunter took Dallas by storm this week. When the headlining band says that Dallas, TX is their favorite location to hit up on tour — you know the show is going to be a good one.

Cultist hit the stage first, and immediately the mosh pit was a sweaty tornado of bodies. Their deep tone and aggressive sound had heads banging with the first few riffs.

Next up was Convictions, who brought their “aggressive worship” style to the stage. Mike and Quinton’s combined vocals deliver emotion and passion, along with the heaviness of their hardcore style guitar and drums. Fans shouted and sang alongside them, proving why Convictions have steadily carved out their place in the Christian metalcore scene.

It was my first time seeing War of Ages live, and with their two decades of experience, they didn’t disappoint. The heavy guitar riffs, intense drumming, and classic metalcore and deathcore styles had my blood pumping and my head banging. I got pushed around quite a bit in the mosh pit while photographing their set, and the intense breakdowns and the crowd surrounding me had my adrenaline flowing.

Demon Hunter took the stage last, as the headliner of the 'There Was A Light Here' Tour. The Grenada Theater was a fever pitch as they opened up with the melodic "Sorrow Light the Way." Standing at the foot of the stage, we were packed with barely an inch between bodies as people kept moving forward to take part in the experience. Ryan Clark was a force to be reckoned with — bald head, covered in tattoos, and a dark black trench coat reaching down towards his combat boots. While their sound and appearance might be dark, Demon Hunter’s lyrics are spiritual and uplifting. It’s no wonder they’ve become a cornerstone in modern Christian metal.

If you are a fan of faith-based metal, you won’t want to miss this tour. All four bands were amazing live. The mosh pit, the crowd and atmosphere, the music were all a top-notch experience.

Leaving the Grenada Theater, with my ears vibrating from the proximity of the speakers and an adrenaline high, I couldn’t help but feel grateful to have experienced such a night of faith, fury, and community. Don’t miss your chance to catch Demon Hunter on the 'There Was A Light Here Tour' near you.
