During this Memorial Day weekend, Detroit’s iconic Movement Festival will once again descend upon the Motor City and, for a second consecutive year, at Hart Plaza from the 23rd to the 25th of May 2026. Produced by Paxhau, this year’s movement celebrates the 20th anniversary of the event as one of the world’s biggest music festival circuits.

History of Movement Festival
This three-day celebration of house, techno, and underground dance music unites fans around the world in the very city that gave birth to techno. And over 115 acts will perform on its multitude of stages this year, with a sound that’s the best combination of up-and-coming underground talent, legendary pioneers, and modern innovators.

2026 Standouts
Among the most notable of Movement 2026 would be techno giant Carl Cox, hard techno standout Sara Landry, and Australian house-hitmaker Dom Dolla, all of whom contribute their unique take on the sound that Detroit helped create.
Movement will also continue a tradition of putting more diverse artists from the electronic music genre on the frontlines. Shows like Green Velvet, The Martinez Brothers, Barry Can’t Swim, The Dare, Hot Since 82, Ellen Allien, and Boys Noize are to play around during this three-day expo of house and techno talent.
It wouldn’t be another Movement Festival without some special back-to-back and collaborative sets. These include performances from acts like Zach Fox B2B Jytoy, Boys Noize B2B MCR-T, Ellen Allien B2B DJ Stingray 313, and more who will share these unique performances only at Movement Festival.

Detroit's Global Impact
Movement has long been a cultural pilgrimage for its attendees, dating back to the Detroit Electronic Music Festival of 2000. It started as a Detroit experiment, an event inspired by Detroit innovators and pioneers, and has since evolved into a worldwide celebration of the sounds of house, techno, and underground music. The 2026 Movement is meant to carry on that tradition that began when it brought together the best from Detroit’s classic techno traditions, as well as the next generation of house producers and DJs.
