An empowering, high-energy anthem is an element everyone needs to have in their playlist. GG Magree's new single "Run" fits perfectly into that category. Pulling from many genres, this track is a perfect mix of thrilling, sassy, and skeptical.

GG Magree is an industrial artist, writer, producer, and DJ from Australia. She's truly a Swiss Army knife in the industry. Growing up in the clubbing scene down under and crossing paths with a bunch of EDM legends, there was never any doubt that Magree was set for stardom. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California, continuing to pursue her successful career that will only continue to flourish.

"Run" begins with a super funky and suspenseful crescendo into a beat drop, a true hyper-pop testament within the story of this song. As the verse opens up with the line "Opened up my sacred haven and gave it all to you," it speaks to the listener as they hear it. Magree explores the meaning as the verse continues, building a metaphor as the chorus approaches. Lyrically, the verses have a hot-tempered realization to them. While the drums transition, the pre-chorus feels freer, as if finally stepping into one's true colors and looking back at the feeling of being trapped, but recognizing and reflecting on something from the past.

Not only does Magree allude to a lot of the songs' meaning through her words, but she also uses instrumentals to fit how the audience is supposed to feel during each part of the track. She opens up about the meaning and influence behind "Run," stating that

“I was going through a really traumatic heartbreak at the time, and so a lot of the songs are about love and me working my way through that,” she says. “But it’s also about owning your sexuality, self-discovery, and just feeling yourself. I want people to dance—let loose. And lose control.”

The bridge creeps in, accompanied by a much harsher sound than before; it's almost unexpected. Touching on some gory lyrics that explore death, nearly alluding to a cliffhanger, and keeping listeners on their toes. Magree's more aggressive vocals loom large right before the eeriest sound effect kicks off the prolonged breakdown. The more punk side of her music takes over for the remainder of this track.

"Run" closes out with a sinister dialogue and horror movie-esque instrumentals that would leave anyone spooked and asking questions. This song will easily give you whiplash in the best possible way. The singer's exploration of autonomy, self-expression, reflection, and death makes this a standout song within the genre for sure.

GG Magree really has it all; her experience with all genres of music allows her songs to excel in many different ways, as well as what she writes about. Not only is she sharing her personal experiences, but also writing something for the fans. You can tell that this track was made for feelings. It doesn't matter if you are angry, sad, or just want to get up and dance around; "Run" won't leave you feeling like there's anything missing.
