I’m very excited to announce that even though it’s only the end of August, fall is coming! What better to do to prepare for our upcoming spooky season than listen to some new spooky music? That’s right, Glasswaves are here with a new single, “Swarm.ING_”,  featured on their upcoming album (while)True. The New York trio have created a new universe with eerily stunning visuals and a soundtrack that follows up perfectly.

The atmospheric tune starts out with some industrial electronic beats that reoccur throughout the track. The band then provides a slow yet elegant buildup with some light instrumentals from guitarist Owen Miller and bassist Brendan Curtis. The drive of the song really comes in right before the first chorus hits. As the vitality of the song sonically strengthens, the lyrics become an emotional plea. “Keep part of me alive. Keep me conscious. Hold me close.” As the song continues, there are numerous electronic effects that add to the buildup right before the breakdown. The breakdown features screams from vocalist Noah Rich along with heavier guitar rhythms and cascading electronic effects. The cascading noise makes you feel like you're succumbing to the darkness of the track. “Buried in apathy. Already numb, what’s become of me?” shows off the helpless feeling of being trapped and accepting your doom, "If it’s too late, let it die.” The electronic effects during the breakdown also remind me of the sound effects that are traditionally found at the end of a video game. When you realize you're out of lives and the game is over even though you were just about to beat your high score. Ugh. Right when you think the song is over, a twist is delivered by the last 12 seconds. The original melody of the song cuts to a message from an unknown voice that says, "Salutation listeners, thank you for getting through this song, and congrats on your initiation. Before you go, don't—" I have so many questions, and I am so curious as to where this is all heading. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait till the album release date, October 23rd.

“Swarm.ING_” is the third single from the upcoming album that has been released, and I truly think the timing of this album couldn’t have been any better. Any fans of Bad Omens and Deftones are going to be enchanted by this single. Something that all of these bands do extremely well is bringing you to a different reality within a song/album and fully immersing the listeners into the band’s madness. If you’re ready for fall and want to add some atmospheric tunes to get lost to, you’ll want to add this to your fall playlist.
