Resistor, a Long Island hardcore band, is making hardcore even harder with the release of their debut album, "BITE THIS." The five-piece band consists of Anthony Grambo as the frontman, Anthony Conti playing guitar, Ian Schneider on bass, Anthony Arce on turntables, and Peter Smith as drummer. They worked hand in hand with producer Randy LeBoeuf, who's worked with the likes of Kublai Khan TX, The Acacia Strain, Gideon, and now Resistor.
Their sound is hardcore, broken up with the sudden sounds of a DJ spinning disks over the heavy instrumentals. It's essentially a similar feel as Swancore with the mix of heavy instrumentals and vocals, but instead of meshing synths and deathcore or metalcore, they took a fresh route by picking hardcore and 2000s DJing. Honestly, I love the sound! It's unique, fresh, and still goes just as hard, if not even harder! The band has coined their sound as "knuckle-dragging wika-wika core," and it's a perfect description.

The "BITE THIS" album starts out heavy with the song "BORN 2 BREAK," and the brutality of this album does not stop there! It goes till the very end song "FEEL LIKE SHIT," which is actually one of my personal favorites off the album! You'll be making a bass face the entire time you have this album playing. If you're spoiled like me and like your heavy music to be unapologetically heavy, then this is a must-listen!
My personal top 3 songs off of "BITE THIS" are probably "DEAD SOUL," "LOVE SONG (BULLSH!T)," and "FEEL LIKE SHIT." They are fun, heavy, and spacy feeling with help from the turntables. "LOVE SONG (BULLSHIT)" has a lot of fun turntable sounds layered in with the instrumentals and vocals. "LEARNING TOOLS" is also a really heavy track, not that they aren't all; it has a really nice mix of turntable, gritty riffs, and harsh vocals.
For fans of hardcore or heavier music in general, I would highly recommend checking out "BITE THIS" and also checking out RESISTOR in general. They are full of those gnarly hidden gems like "ARE YOU HAPPY NOW" and "Mutt," which both hit hard! "Mutt" is actually one of my favorite songs of theirs with its wild vocal parts from the DJ and heavy vibes.
RESISTOR is really a band to have your eyes and ears on so make sure you hop on the bandwagon with me and start listening to this band now if you haven't already. They're blowing up, so why hold off? Go check out "BITE THIS" by RESISTOR today!
