Brooklyn Bowl in Philadelphia was given a whimsical and entertaining performance by The Two Lips on November 8th, celebrating the release of their first EP, “Girl, C’mon”.

Supporting The Two Lips on tour is Mexican and Salvadorian indie artist Niko Rubio. Niko has a deep connection with her family and heritage, and sings about themes like growing up bilingual and being first-generation in our time period.

When Niko took the stage, it was all smiles from start to finish, with her entering with a large white bouquet and greeting the crowd. With the recent release of her EP, “Ring Ring,” back in July, her setlist was jam-packed with new songs and even some unreleased ones. Some songs off her setlist featured “Baby,” “Five Star”, and “Love Me Till You Hate Me.”

Niko’s energy and stunning vocals during the set were incredible, utilizing every part of the stage, making sure to acknowledge every single person in the crowd. Paired with her guitarist, Adrian, their chemistry was magical to watch, especially when both of them would play their guitars simultaneously for some songs, making me excited every time Niko would reach back to pick hers up. Overall, Niko Rubio made for a fantastic start for the rest of the night.

Forming The Two Lips in 2022 after meeting online, best friends Jewlz and Andrea immediately clicked. With Jewlz having a background in music production, and Andrea previously being a preschool teacher, they found their music production effortless. Gaining a lot of inspiration from cartoons like “Adventure Time” and “Steven Universe”, The Two Lips created a unique and energetic bedroom-pop sound. After two years of releasing singles from 2023-2025, like “Do You Even Know”, “Favorite Apple”, and “Talk”, their first EP, “Girl C’mon” released a day before the show, on November 7th, and fans were more than ready to hear these songs live for the first time.

Kicking off their set with “Play,” off their new project, the fans’ excitement was through the roof, as Jewlz and Andrea scurried to their beautifully-decorated mic stands with vines and spikes. Their chemistry on stage, even from the start, was insane. They were perfectly in sync, while also giving each other some moments for them to individually shine.

After performing a few more songs, featuring “Clue” and “Talk”, Andrea announced it was finally time to whip out the Omnichord, which she explained is an electronic instrument capable of playing harp-like sounds.

On the Omnichord, fans of the Marias were in for a treat as The Two Lips covered “Sienna”. The crowd was completely silent as Jewlz and Andrea went to work. The harmonization and unique sound of the Omnichord were stunning, and as soon as that final note was done, the crowd went crazy once again in amazement.

What is great about going to a Two Lips show is that it feels very interactive. It's like a concert with minigames built in. And this was very present in a segment that The Two Lips call “Vibe Check.” Jewlz and Andrea instructed their respective sides of the crowd to scream whenever one of them raised their hands, and it was safe to say the fans understood the assignment. As soon as one of their hands went up, they screamed, and as soon as it went down… perfect silence, even in a fast repetition.

Philadelphia got an incredible surprise with Jewlz and Andrea coming back on to play 3 more songs, with one of them being an Omnichord and fully Spanish version of “Still Love You”, and it was their first time doing it in concert. Fans loved it, of course, and the show ended with “If You Said.”

Overall, this show was fantastic. The vibes that Jewlz and Andrea bring to the stage are like none other and are truly a wonder to watch. With the “Kiss and Tell Tour” continuing until November 20th, get to a show. You will not regret it.
