With her new heartfelt song, alt-pop artist Charlotte Sands shows us that not even death can keep soulmates apart. “Afterlife” is not just for those romantically in love, but for anyone you can call your twin flame.
“Afterlife” is a heavenly song with hard-hitting lyricism, complete with Sands’ beautiful vocals. From promises such as “I know the end isn’t really the end // I’ll hold on ‘til I see you again” to the echoes of “Promise that you’ll find me // Somewhere, somewhere in the afterlife,” the song is a testament to the strength of a relationship and the unbreakable bond two people can have. Of the song, Sands reveals that it's her favorite, and that, “It’s about the rare and beautiful certainty that no matter what this lifetime holds, you’ll always find your way back to each other again—in the next life, and in every one after that.”

Despite only being released today, “Afterlife” has already started a trend on social media. Using just a snippet of the song that Sands shared on Instagram and TikTok, users have made edits of their favorite memories set to the lyrics. Some had footage of fans meeting Sands at meet and greets, while others showed concerts and milestones with important people in their lives, such as graduation. On Instagram, Sands was overwhelmed by the videos using the song and gushed about how honored she was to provide a soundtrack to their special moments.
The song is Sands’ third single of the year, coming just under two months after the debut of her previous song, “neckdeep,” which she celebrated the release of during the Nashville stop of idobi Radio’s Summer School Tour. While on this tour, she also played Vans Warped Tour in Long Beach and is slated to play Warped Tour in Orlando in November. Just a couple of days before, she is opening for 3OH!3 on November 13 at the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville.
