Jack’s Mannequin brought their ‘Made For Each Other’ tour to The Fillmore in Charlotte, NC this past Tuesday night for a sold-out show, bringing along Yoke Lore for the ride. What made this one truly special is that it’s not only Jack’s Mannequin’s first dedicated tour in over a decade, but it’s also a celebration of twenty years of the beloved band.
Formed in 2004 by Andrew McMahon, Jack’s Mannequin originally began as a solo project, but quickly grew into something greater. Andrew, then known for his work fronting pop-punk/piano-rock band Something Corporate, was looking for a more personal outlet at the time.
Andrew was diagnosed with leukemia in 2005, and this had a huge impact on early Jack's Mannequin, and truly defined that time period in his life. He is currently in remission after a stem cell transplant donation by his sister and has since formed the Dear Jack Foundation, which supports adolescents and young adults diagnosed with cancer.
Despite only releasing three albums under the JM name — Everything in Transit (2005), The Glass Passenger (2008), and People and Things (2011) — the band is still highly known and respected in the scene. These albums birthed some truly amazing tracks that many of us grew up on, like "Spinning", "The Mixed Tape", "Swim", "The Resolution", "Dark Blue", and so many more. In 2012, Andrew felt that the name was too closely tied to a difficult time period in his life, and began releasing music under the moniker Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness instead.
Thankfully, for this 20-year anniversary of the band, Andrew decided to bring Jack's Mannequin together for the MFEO tour. Without further ado, let's move on to the show.
I lost my place but I can't stop this story
I'll find my way but until then I'm only spinning...

Following a short video intro about the history of Jack's Mannequin, the band took the stage one by one, ending with Andrew grinning from ear to ear. Opening up with two of their most popular songs — "Holiday From Real" and "Spinning" — they began a journey through their discography, though focusing heavily on Everything In Transit.

Andrew's energy was infectious, as he could barely sit still while playing through their rich discography, clearing feeding off of the crowd's excitement. He was sure to get up and dance around the stage whenever he was able to.

Overall, Jack's Mannequin's Charlotte tour stop was the perfect blend of nostalgia, emotional depth, and storytelling. Andrew's emotional connection to the audience was a fundamental element of the celebration of their legacy, making it an unforgettable evening for fans new and old. Jack's Mannequin and Charlotte were truly made for each other.

maybe we were made, we were made for each other... is it possible for the world to look this way forever?
