Born during the prime of 2000s emo/rock music, 19-year-old MADiSON ViOLETT is taking the alternative scene by storm. Most recently, the "Los Angeles metal princess" released a song with pop-punk royalty Kellin Quinn from Sleeping with Sirens.
"BLEED FOR ME" was released on May 14, marking ViOLETT’s seventh release since her impressive debut, "Circling," last January. Much like the lyrics in the pre-chorus, the song has you feeling like you're slowly falling before snapping you back to reality with the intense chorus. ViOLETT's distinct, haunting vocals complement Quinn's signature screams and bridge the gap between their similar but different styles of music. Quinn is passing the torch to this new generation of musicians, and with artists like ViOLETT, the future looks to be very bright.
Inspired by the music video for "I’m Not Okay (I Promise)" by My Chemical Romance, the video for "BLEED FOR ME" is set at a high school with ViOLETT and her bandmates (Israel Hernandez, Cooper Fink, and Alex Hartman) in uniforms like the ones that MCR wore in their video. The four wreak havoc throughout the school and tear down prom flyers that another classmate is putting up, replacing them with a flyer for a house party taking place at the same time. It then cuts to the house party, and their classmate enters, unsure of what he's walking into. He wins everyone over with his MCR shirt (the same one that ViOLETT is also wearing), and they put aside their differences for their common love of music.
ViOLETT has a few California shows coming up soon, including at Artists in the Alley in Pomona on June 13, DiPiazza’s in Long Beach on June 19, The Smell in Los Angeles on June 27, and the Corbin Bowl in Tarzana on July 3. She also hosts her own podcast, "THE SPIDERWEB," where she chats with other independent artists and industry creatives about music and whatever else may come up during the conversation.
Meanwhile, Sleeping with Sirens is getting ready to release their eighth studio album, "An Ending in Itself," on June 12. The album includes recently released songs, "Paralyzed," "Forever/Always," and the title track. They also have several festival appearances coming up this year, such as Vans Warped Tour and Louder Than Life, and a headlining show at The Ritz in Raleigh, North Carolina the day before their album releases.
