Don't Look Down, the brand new EP from alt-rock's newest breakout act Nate Vickers, ushers in a new era for the artist that is sure to have fans, both old and new, left happy and hungry for more. With several million followers across social media and an ever-growing fanbase, it is no wonder why Vickers is able to captivate audiences with their blend of vulnerability and ferocity.
While each song on the EP works tremendously together to cause the EP to stand out in the sea of music, it is equally incredible that each of these songs could be just as successful as stand-alone singles. Take "Falling Away From Heaven" or "Parasite", and their ability to easily be a stadium sing-along anthem that pulls and tugs as each heart string of the listener. With each and every listen, I find something new to fall in love with.
When discussing the title track, "Don't Look Down", Vickers explains:
"This song comes from the moment you realize love isn't saving you anymore-it's slowly killing you. It's about holding on to someone who keeps letting you fall, and burying the pain until you can't hide it anymore."
and how
"‘Don’t Look Down’ is my way of ending the year strong, while also closing this chapter of my career. I’m extremely excited for my debut headlining shows and all the new, heavier music I’ll be dropping in 2026."
I will argue that "Deja Vu" and "Feels So Wrong" come close to the emotional rollercoaster Don't Look Down brings the listener. Riffs and drum-fills that serenade your body in a sense of comfort with lyrics that weigh heavy on your heart. It is coming across as almost a guilt-filled admission of love to someone you know you shouldn't. Or at least that is how I am feeling listening to them. Want to prove me wrong? Give the EP a listen yourself and make your own claim.
