Underground Arts was in for a treat as Primitive Man reached one of their final stops on their "American Observance Tour" on December 17th in celebration of their recent album release, "Observance." Joining Primitive Man on this show were God Is War, Great Falls, and Buffalo Nichols, making for a spectacular, jam-packed night.
Kicking off the show was Los Angeles noise/electronic artist God Is War, with a noise set that set a tone for the rest of the show. With the combination of funky visuals, like farm animals, a person getting bullied, and text on screen, mixed with God is War's energy, it made for a very interesting and exciting opener that you don't see that often.

Next up was Seattle-based sludge metal band, Great Falls. Straight off the bat, their energy was insane. Their bassist, Shane, swinging his bass around, constantly gets the crowd hyped and headbanging. With Damian on vocals and guitar, his screams and riffs were out of this world. Fans were very pleased with their setlist choices, with them playing a lot of songs off their 2023 album, "Objects Without Pain," and even an unreleased song. Overall, Great Falls put on a fantastic second set.

Last but not least for the openers was R&B artist from Austin, Texas, Buffalo Nichols, with an amazing solo act. It was very impressive to watch Nichols at work, with amazing vocals and even more amazing guitar riffs using his guitar slide. Performing various songs from his discography, like "Lost and Lonesome off his 2021 album, "Buffalo Nichols," and his newest single, "In The Name of God."
What was fascinating about all of these openers is that they all had their own unique genres and performances, making is so there was an opener for everybody to be drawn to. But after three great acts, it was time for Primitive Man to take the stage.

From Denver, Colorado, Primitive Man is known for their harsh sound, exploring themes like capitalism, personal anguish, and nihilism. Forming the band all the way back in 2012, Primitive Man has seen great success, releasing various albums over the years, like "Scorn" (2013), "Split" (2017), just to name a few, and their most recent release, "Observance," which was released earlier this October.
Primitive Man started their set with a song off their new album, "Social Contract," which made fans lock in and headbang immediately. After some incredible instrumentals, lead singer Ethan let out an impressive death growl with ease. Continuing the rest of their set, Primitive Man let the music speak for itself, not saying a word to the crowd, and it ended working perfectly. Song after song, it helped keep the loud, brutalistic vibe of their music constant.

This show was a fantastic time. With 3 amazing openers and an incredible performance by Primitive Man, you definitely want to keep an eye out for plans the band has in the future.
