There is a new wave of deathcore hitting the music scene, and I don't think there has been as much hype and support for a band in quite some time like there currently is for PSYCHO-FRAME. With barely 2 full years under the band's belt, they have already amassed a cult-like following, hundreds of thousands of streams on Spotify alone, with music videos also hitting that high hundred thousands mark. The band is currently preparing to release their debut album, SALVATION LAUGHS IN THE FACE OF A GRIEVING MOTHER, via Sharptone Records on the 25th of July, and I would guarantee it is going to skyrocket the band to headline status in no time.

PSYCHO-FRAME sounds exactly like what people used to say to me back in middle and high school when I told them what music I liked. "How can you understand that? It's just yelling and loud instruments." My first time listening to SALVATION LAUGHS IN THE FACE OF A GRIEVING MOTHER had me thinking to myself that I need to give it another run-through because I didn't understand a single thing. Which is true because I was too busy head-banging along to every blast beat, dropped tune riff, and having the time of my life listening to these demonic-ass vocals. Any veteran listener of deathcore can hear the ode to and blueprints the early 2000s had on this album. The true testament to the band's musical ability is how they take that and make it sound fresh, clean, and influential for both old and new listeners of the genre.
Songs like "BLUEPRINTS FOR IDOL GENOCIDE" are so unapologetically raw in their deliverance as well as lyrical content. There's no time to sit there and try and decipher what the deeper message in the song is, as the band ensures they are as straightforwardas possible. This is proven true as vocalists Mike Sugars and Colter Cuthbertson state:
“They’re my favorite songs we’ve done yet. There’s a more baseline sense of realness in the lyrics on this one too. There’s no room for metaphor, or beating around the bush. We said what we meant.” - Sugars
“Lyrically this record spans from borderline satirical hyper-aggression to genuine, sentimental and personal doctrines. Written during monumental life changes and in the midst of panic attacks, we’re proud to present the body of lyrical work rendered. Sonically, I believe it’s one of the most aggressive and unrelenting pieces of music ever made without a second of filler.” - Cuthberston
It is a theme prevalent in many of the songs. Take "THE PORTAL," for example, with lyrics like "Your life means nothing to me" and "I am disgusted by the fact you exist in this life." I don't think there needs to be much guessworkin trying to figure out the message in the lyrics. It is something that makes PSYCHO-FRAME so fucking good. They accompany this unrelenting truthfulness with a nonstop barrage of that deathcore magic to make a song that can stand the test of time.
I am sure I can speak for many PSYCHO-FRAME fans when I say this release truly is the best thing the band has ever put out. I cannot wait for it to be released so everyone can engage in the chaos, madness, and beauty that is PSYCHO-FRAME.
