Saosin Returns with New Single “Starting Over Again”

No, this is not a dream. Post-hardcore band Saosin is back for the first time in almost a decade with their new single, “Starting Over Again.”

Formed in Orange County during the early 2000s, original members Anthony Green (former vocalist), Justin Shekoski (former lead guitarist), Zach Kennedy (former bassist), Beau Burchell (guitarist), and Alex Rodriguez (drummer) made waves in the underground California scene with EP debut "Translating The Name”; a five-track record composed of fan favorites such as “Seven Years” and “3rd Measurement in C.”

In addition to being coined as one of the most formative bands in the scene to embrace social media as a way to advertise themselves (Corey Apar, AllMusic Database), the emerging quartet continued to soar throughout multiple alternative scenes in the country. From their unique sound to killer guitar riffs, Saosin has built a cult-following in the industry, with a loyal fanbase that is indebted to their art.

During their 13 year run before their decade long hiatus in 2016, the band has dealt with numerous hurdles. Ranging from Green’s departure in 2004 (a year after their debut) to form Circa Survive and dealing with consistent withdrawals from multiple musicians in searching for a new vocalist, Saosin decided to take a pause from creating temporarily – dedicating their time towards rediscovering their sound alongside their next path as a unit.

The band reconnected with former lead Cove Reber, years after being laid off due to difficulties over stage presence and performance. However, this rough patch blossomed into something miraculous after Saosin was seen posting glimpses of their return on Instagram.

Despite the trials and tribulations that Saosin went through since their debut, these post-hardcore icons have stepped back into the spotlight within the past few years.

Introducing touring guitarist Phil Sgrosso as a full-time member alongside making appearances at notable festivals such as Warped Tour in D.C. and Welcome to Rockville last summer, Saosin proves how dedication and ambition is beneficiary in cultivating a memorable legacy.
