Boston-based metalcore band Renesans just released their new single "Split Brow," and it's all your favorite metalcore bands rolled up into one! They mix in all the finest metalcore subgenres to create a high-energy sound that has breakdowns hard enough to blow your eardrums and choruses with a catchy caliber that you can't turn down.
"Split Brow" is a gnarly and heavy song! It starts with its own breakdown-type feel that only works to build the song from the very beginning. It leads you in by letting you know it's going to go hard from start to end. They definitely didn't undersell it, either, as this stays just as heavy as you'd expect from the opening! Each person does their part to carry it too; no one player is less brutal at what they do, nor given a lighter part.
The video is great too, with crystal clear clips of the band playing in a darkened room with spotlights and moving beams mixed in all around them as the band plays at full energy. I am honestly impressed with how clean and clear the camera work is on this video! It's crisp and nice on the eyes. While it is just the band playing the song, they bring their own force to a virtual stage and gives you a very real look into what their live performances are like. I love this type of video as it serves to show you what their energy is like if you are debating on seeing them live, and because, in booking, it is great to have live performance videos like this to show booking agencies and promoters what a bands live performances are like!
Renesans has crafted a sound that I really love. It's heavy-hitting and doesn't leave you feeling like you didn't get enough of the harsh vocals. This mixing and mastering for "Split Brow" is just as crisp and cohesive as the music video, which is so important with the instrumental type and harsh vocals that they have going for them.
I can't wait for more from Renesans! They were a new find for me, and now I have them all over my playlists. I can see this band with so many banger collaboration options, too. Their sound is malleable so they can take it in so many directions as their career continues as well. I am so excited for the future of Renesans and my playlists give thanks to them!
