“New year, new me.” It’s a phrase we hear time and time again every January 1st, but sometimes it’s a statement that actually holds true. While it may not be the first of the year, The Bunny The Bear is certainly turning a new leaf.

With a post back on October 27, 2024, fans were treated to the ominous message of “New Era” featuring a photo (by Tom Flynn) of a very new, very exciting addition to the family. Joining the band as “The Bear” was Brooke Tybor (the wife of long-standing vocalist “The Bunny” Matthew Tybor), a new voice to be featured just three days later with their single “In the Feels”.

Since then, the band has dropped single after single, captivating fans with a change in sound that encompasses all the best of electronic and post-hardcore sounds meshed together. All of this has been cultivated into their newest album, Brooke’s first with The Bunny The Bear, The Moments That Cost (released through Tough Luck Music).

Released on May 9th, it hasn’t taken much time at all for long-time listeners to latch onto the band’s new sound. In addition, it would seem that this “new era” has also drawn in a flood of new fans, and for good reason.

On top of familiar instrumentals, the album features our newest Femme Fatale haunting audiences with clean vocals, while Matthew continues to once again drive through with the grit and rawness that fans have come to love and expect. Amongst the tracklist are revisited versions of past songs like “Aisle” and “April 11”; incredibly reimagined songs that truly give this band the feeling of re-birth that they’ve tried (and fully succeeded) to encompass with the record.

The Bunny The Bear are also currently on tour, making their way around the United States with their unique stage presence of raw emotion and theatrics. Appearing next in Columbus, Ohio on May 29th, and many shows to come, fans can purchase tickets just in time to be able to say that they were here for the very first shows of this newest chapter.
