The Gloom In The Corner is a 4-piece band all the way from Melbourne, Australia. With a sound that mixes and melds metalcore and death rock, they have created their very own unique sound that they have coined as "cinematic metal." Their ability to create and musically paint universes and storylines is a feat to be rivaled. They didn't skimp on the art for their story worlds either. The Gloom In The Corner are not just a band making music; they are evil scientists creating worlds we didn't even know could exist, and that's next-level art.

Their music explores social and mental health struggles, covering some of the darkest topics about being a human being without making them too edgy to feel like real-world problems. They don't shy away from the herd or uncomfortable topics, from self-deprecation, trauma, and finding self-worth.

Since their start as a band in 2016, their unique ability to tell stories through music and sound has garnered them a newfound following. In 2025 the band went on a European tour and have since been back home in Melbourne, releasing their new single "Nope" in early February.

This band is fully dedicated to their storyline because all of their current music follows Agent #712151513, AKA Jay, through his life as a secret agent working with Section 13 and the elite "Echo Squad."

While an immersive story, it also gets really dark. Covering alcoholism, depression, PTSD, tyranny, and more, hence the name of the band. The gloom in the corner is the darkness looming within the confine of their story, but in a paradoxical turn of events the band itself becomes The Gloom In The Corner by authoring such a dark yet compelling story over the course of almost all of their songs currently out.

The only thing that helps make this band even more immersive is the fact that we also get killer visuals for this cinematic universe! From comic book-style visualizer-type videos and fun skit-type music videos with full characters, sets, and costumes to the cover art, and guess what...? A band with a story this involved in the band's personas and style would be a fool to not have a comic book series, right? Well, it's a good thing that The Gloom in the Corner already thought of that! They have released multiple physical copies and digital copies and installments for different parts of the story as it continues.

Speaking of new releases, The Gloom In The Corner's new album, "Royal Discordance," is out now! Following the same story and somehow never tiring us out on it. It's heavy in sound and theme, but fun and upbeat. This album and band have an uncanny ability to make you feel serotonin while bopping along to some really dark topics and scenes in the story. Their vibes are honestly electric, and "Royal Discordance" doesn't miss.

The current band members are vocalist Mikey Arthur, guitarist Jesse Abdurazak, bassist Paul Musolino, and drummer Joshua Clinch. While they are the band, they also play the characters in the music videos that correlate to the story. Often their videos depict scenes acted out in full costume and set by the band, if not given a visual that has art where the characters look like the band members.

You'll come to love this chaotic quad! The energy that the band has for what they do and the creativity and effort that they are putting into this project are to be rivaled. It's not everyday that you find a band that has created a brand so all-encompassing that it becomes its own universe.

The Gloom In The Corner will also be joining King 810 as support on their Australian tour alongside DREGG starting March 4th as well! This seems to be shaping out to be a big year for The Gloom In The Corner, with releases, one tour announced already, and lord knows what all else they have up their sleeves. This band keeps you engaged and guessing whether it's on the story or their next move; they are full of wild surprises.

All in all, I have to say, this band is a lot of fun in the darkest ways! They'll have you dancing and singing along before you even realize what the song is about. The story alone is superb and comes with no lack of visual aid for your imagination. If you like Electric Callboy and the Stupendium, then you'll probably find The Gloom In The Corner to be right up your alley!

It's dark, it's fun, it's literally a whole different universe. Make sure to read up on the lore; it's a really great storyline. Make sure to check out their new album, "Royal Discordance," currently out now!
