Trivium. Where does one even begin when describing a band that has been so monumentally influential to the metal world? With ten full-length albums under the belt since forming at the eve of 2000, Trivium have been at the forefront when talking about the metal genre and there are no signs of them stopping now.

Continuing their conquer of the genre, the band released their most recent album, In the Court of the Dragon, back in 2021 and have now followed it up with this new EP: STRUCK DEAD. The 3-song EP is set to be one of the most intense releases of the year.

Releasing music in this day-and-age is already a feat that takes a lot of effort and confidence, but to release an EP that is only 3 songs long? That must be something that takes the confidence of being a band in the metal world that has consistently met, and raised, the bar time and time again. Especially when each of those 3 songs clock in at over 5 minutes, Trivium is proving that they are not a band that is simply here for the TikTok views or the "5 minutes of fame". They are here to once again prove why they are one of the best acts in modern metal. Each song on the EP, "Bury Me With My Screams", "Struck Dead (Pain Is Easier To Remember)", and "Six Walls Surround Me", could have easily been released as stand-alone singles, but working together in unison have once again raised the bar for all future metal musicians. From blistering solos to carefully crafted drum fills to lyrics that sucker punch you in the face with vocals that range from every side of the vocal spectrum, I've found myself playing this EP on repeat over and over again while falling in-love with new parts each and every listen. Out of the 3, I'd have to give the honor of my favorite to "Six Walls Surround Me" as it reminds me of why I care so deeply about the genre. At over 7 minutes long, the song never once loses steam and continues to captivate listeners every step of the way.

To celebrate the release of the EP, Trivium is going to head out on tour and it should take them to about the end of 2025. Tickets for the Struck Dead Tour alongside Jinjer and Heriot can be purchased at the link here.
