Hailing from Denver, CO, and already taking the music scene by storm in just two short years, Voidatlas have just released their newest single. The song, "Absolution", is sure to skyrocket the band to new heights and make them a household name. If the song release itself isn't enough to keep you on board, the accompanying music video is quite the progressive metalcore masterpiece.
"Absolution" ascends the "type casting" and pigeon-holding of a singular genre. With aspects of djent and metalcore with their instrumentals, death metal and deathcore-sounding vocals, and a hint of, dare I say, jazz, I find myself going back to listen to the song over and over again while falling in love with a brand new part each and every time. Not to compare the band in the sense of saying "they're just like ____ band", but if you were a fan of the recent Born of Osiris release, you are going to love not only this new single from Voidatlas, but their entire discography.
Like I said earlier, if the song itself is not enough to make you a fan of the band, the music video surely will. Closing in at about 8,000 views in just 9 short days, the video pays homage to the horror movie genre and is filmed in such a way that you can't help but grin. From the lighting to effects to each horrific and demonic scene, I haven't enjoyed a music video this much in quite some time.
