Iconic pop culture figure, Wiz Khalifa, is the staple feature rapper on some of this generation's most popular tracks. From “Black and Yellow” to “See You Again,” Khalifa’s presence is heard across all genres, blending pop and hip-hop effortlessly. Raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he has been creating, writing and producing ever since the mid-2000s. From mixtapes to major label co-ownership of Taylor Gang Entertainment, which evolved from once a fanbase nickname to a full-blown record label. Owning both the digital and in person spaces, Wiz Khalifa is a household name.

Taking his big show on the road again with direct support from Chevy Woods made for an out of this world evening at The Rave in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. At The Rave, known for its allegedly haunted pool and being a historic landmark in the city, the night was packed full with good vibes, all in anticipation of his newest release, Kush and Orange Juice 2.

Outside of my normal genres, Rock and Pop, I was excited to be matched up with such a hyper, mixed bag in the crowd. Equally excited were the performers on stage, Woods seemed like he was just having the best time warming up this crowd for the headlining act. If you haven’t ever checked out his music and are a fan of rap and hip-hop, he will be right up your alley. His presence on the stage was infectious, getting everyone nodding their heads and hands up in the air. Woods shouted out the Taylor Gang multiple times throughout his set as well, weather that be through song lyrics or a way to get the audience loud I wasn’t sure. But, it was certain that everyone was enjoying themselves during Chevy Woods’ set.

Finally, the moment everyone was waiting for, alongside an epic entrance anthem, Wiz Khalifa hit the stage. The masterful performer toted rockstar style sunglasses and some heavy duty diamonds around his neck. The crowd, simply put, erupted in cheers, also pulling out their phones to record the legend in action. His LCD background lights were super intriguing and held the DJ booth for behind the scenes playback. His screens features some incredible designs that were essential to the overall vibes and energy. Major nods to his lighting technicians and touring crew.

Later on in the night, Chevy Woods made another appearance on stage to dish out some crowd engagement. Him and Khalifa’s crew threw out some inflatable balloons in the shape of RAW papers. Which got the crowd pretty excited and made for a good bit on stage.

Wiz Khalifa's song with Empire Of The Sun, “The Thrill,” has recently taken off again on TikTok, five years after its initial release. In this era of resurgence, it's not untypical to see old songs popping back into the surface in tangent with viral trends online. In addition to these moments, Khalifa and his team take these into consideration when crafting his setlists. Since so much of relevancy and pop culture has changed in the past few years, and as it continues to evolve; artists like Khalifa continue to build upon their foundation.
