On August 15th, 2025, Hinder performed in The Vine Showroom in del Lago Casino in Waterloo, NY, on their Back To Life 2025 Tour. Hinder is indeed back to life, and those in attendance got to see a great show!
Formed in 2001 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Hinder has seven studio albums, with the 7th album, Back To Life, released in May of 2025. The band's current lineup includes founding members Joe "Blower" Garvey on guitar, drummer Cody Hanson, and longtime member Mike Rodden, who has been on bass since 2003. Frontman Marshall Dutton has been providing vocals since 2015, and guitarist Justin Shipley joins the band during tours. The song selections for the show were like a playlist of great music from all points in the band's career, including the hits and some singles off the new album. They even threw in an excellent cover of Collective Soul's song "Shine," putting their own spin on the song.

From the very beginning of their 14-song set, the band was clearly enjoying themselves on stage. Frontman Dutton frequently interacted with the fans, speaking directly to individuals in the front rows and even cracking a few jokes during the show. He moved around the stage and rarely stayed in one place, sharing his presence with everyone. Some lucky fans caught guitar picks that the band frequently tossed to the audience throughout the show. Mike Rodden got into the groove, jumped off the stage, and took his bass on a tour around the venue, pausing to take selfies with fans. Shipley even took a not-so-serious selfie with his tongue sticking out using a fan's phone.
Not every moment was energy-driven. Dutton paused and reflected on the introduction of another popular song. "I want to take you back in time to when one of my favorite Hinder songs came out, and it's a breakup song, but it's the kind that I like. I like the sad ones, baby. I like to waddle with misery. So if you've ever been heartbroken and listened to a song on repeat for like 6 months just because somebody fucked up your life. Then there's a good chance this might have been in your fucking rotation. Are you picking up what I'm laying down?" Fans cheer loudly, and with "Blower" playing an acoustic guitar, Dutton gives a heartfelt performance of "Better Than Me" with many fans singing along.
The band even worked through a glitch after a minor malfunction of Shipley's in-ear monitor and spun it into a positive vibe. Dutton shares, "Ships still got a smile on his face. That's the lesson, you know it's like shit's not going good for Ship today, but he's still got a smile on his face. So if you have a shit Friday, let's see you smile, baby." Pointing to a fan in the seats, "Come on, the only way to make it better. Anyway, we're going to play you guys another new song off the record that we just released. This is the first song that we released off this record. It was a song called "Live Without It," and all the song is, is a mantra. Sometimes, because everybody knows you could just stumble across bad things in your life, whether it's drugs or alcohol or people. For me, it's people. Sometimes you just kind of break down and be like, "I can live without it," he yells out. "I can live without this shit, I can live without this shit, I can live without it!" Here we go, and the band delivers a kick ass emotional song!
Hinder closed out the show with fan favorites and delivered a powerful performance of "Lips of an Angel" and "Get Stoned." The audience sang along in unison, hands in the air, pumped with energy. At the end of the song, the band thanked fans, greeted them at the edge of the stage, handed out a few signed set-lists, and took selfies with smiling fans. If you have the opportunity to see a Hinder show, take it, not only for the older songs but also for the new ones, too!
