Feelings Like Fire is an emo band from North Carolina. The band consists of drummer Allan Kuylen, vocalist Blake Carroll, and guitarist Matt Stretz. Our sound is inspired by 2000's and 2010's metalcore, emo, and post-hardcore. Feelings Like Fire is our cathartic release for all our darkest emotions and we hope to help anyone who might be struggling to realize that they're not alone.
Circling back to the band now. Feelings Like Fire, your favorite new emo band from North Carolina, has just released their debut single, "Hollow Heart", and it is a contender for single of the year. Right away the song makes me think of early The Used, Senses Fail, Hawthrone Heights, and Modern Day Escape. Clocking in at about three and a half minutes, “Hollow Heart” is nothing but high energy riffs, stellar drumming, and catchy lyrics. The beginning thirty seconds of the track could easily get any pit going and those moshers happy. Upon first listen, you can tell that this musical journey and endeavor is something the band takes seriously. It is an all-around fun track and is sure to be on repeat all day as listeners let Feelings Like Fire scratch that emo itch. You are absolutely lying to yourself if you do not admit that if this song came out 10 years ago, this would have been the “Warped Tour Song of the Summer”.
If this is what the first single from the band sounds like, I can only begin to imagine what an EP or even a full length release might contain. Will they continue with this high energy type of song or will they maybe slow it down a bit for a ballad? Maybe a track with no singing and just that hair-raising harsh vocals, or maybe a track of just singing. There is only one way for listeners to get an answer and that is by supporting Feelings Like Fire, streaming their single "Hollow Heart", and when they announce a live performance, go and check them out! I for one am already impatiently waiting to see what the future will bring for this band.
