Canada's own Gutter King are steadily making 2025 their own, as they have released two of the most unique singles of the year. From "Limbo" dropping a few months ago to this most recent release, "Mirror," the sky is rapidly becoming the limit for this band. Fueled by a passion to make Canadian metalcore as influential as their foreign friends overseas and across borders, Gutter King is sure to take that metalcore crown in no time.

I thought it was going to be next to impossible for the band to top "Limbo," but damn, they must have taken that as a challenge because they exceeded any and every sort of expectation a fan could have had. "Mirror" has it all, from catchy hooks to heavy breakdowns to a beautifully haunting balance of singing and screaming. Not only that, but it is just a fun track to listen to. I keep finding myself throwing the song back on and headbanging for nearly three and a half minutes straight each listen. Is there anything more you could expect from a song?

While fan dedication is important, it is also vital for the band itself to believe in that vision, and, surprise, Gutter King might be their own biggest fans. Guitarist Alan Bremner states how:

“It feels like a culmination of everything we’ve learned about our own sound, what works and what doesn’t, and how we can keep pushing the envelope to keep ourselves and our fans excited about what we do next."

The band continues to elaborate and explain that:

" "Mirror" is a cathartic song to us. It was written during a tumultuous time in our lives, when we had to reinvent ourselves as artists. That’s why the song is centered on destruction, because in order to step into our future, we had to destroy the parts of ourselves that were holding us back."

Whatever the future has in store for this band, you better sign me up because I don't want to miss a single thing.
