Tied In Knots is a 3-piece progressive emo band hailing from Atlanta, Georgia. Establishing themselves on the scene in 2024, they have already achieved a following of 5.2k monthly listeners on Spotify and music videos with up to 13k views. Their sound is one that strives to take the 2000s emo sound we know and make it even heavier and deeper to reach new emotional heights.
On October 30th, Tied In Knots released their new single "Watermark(s)," and if you were craving a little something to feel, then you should lie down, stare at the ceiling, and turn on this track.

The mix of heavy riffs and vocals, along with the use of more electronic-based sounds and synths, puts Tied In Knots in the crosshairs of both 2000s emo and alt-rock, as well as opening them up to electronic music collabs, remixes, and more. "Watermark(s)" is no exception for this band.
"Watermark(s)" is refreshing in that way that it doesn't feel like a remake of the old emo sound or like it's a song trying to re-find that sound, but instead it feels like this track was created in that era of music. This can be hard to find in the newer wave of emo sounds and bands, but Tied In Knots has done it for themselves.
"Secrets dancing on the top of your tongue / Another confrontation where nobody won / We both know we lost him young / Another year, another love that's receding" is a chorus that really hits you right in the gut, as well as in the nostalgia. It feels like you would have heard it playing during Wrapped Tour or in Hot Topic while still maintaining depth and meaning. It's literally nostalgia core in the best way possible!
Let's talk about the "Watermark(s)" music video!
The video shows the band performing in a darker room with a blurred filter overlaid on the top, along with the lyrics to the song in scratchy lettering. A good lyric-based music video that isn't just a looping background and the words is always nice. It's not overwhelming, but instead well-done and does the job of being a lyric video that is still entertaining.

This band is one I have followed for a few releases now, and I do enjoy their music that is out so far already, so getting to cover "Watermark(s)." This release is just as good as the others and always scratches the itch for that old-school emo sound.
I am excited to see what the future looks like for Tied In Knots and the evolution of their sound. "Watermark(s)" only goes to show that they are on their way to great things as they progress in the music scene. Go ahead and grab your seat on the bandwagon with me!
