When talking about the new and emerging artists on tour of Australia at the moment, one artist seems to pop up in particular: Charlie Farmer.
Charlie Farmer is an up-and-coming artist who's just at the end of his first tour this month and who promotes his music as indie rock with a home feel. With his newest single, "ESCAPE YOUR FEEL," which is also his first song to have a fully directed music video, this artist doesn't seem like your typical conventional artist where they release several songs and spend years before they even get to tour as an opener.
But this less than conventional and stereotypical approach to his career seems to be making it flourish.

Both were released this year, the second releasing just as he started his tour in August, hitting major cities all up and down the east coast of Australia, including the capital of the country in Canberra, Sydney, and Wollongong. He's also opening in September for New Zealand hit No Cigar and has played an opener for a previously discussed Australian Musical Legend, Mac the Knife.
For an artist who's only debuted this year, Charlie Farmer has hit a bit of a roll, touring and promoting his music, with each song having a lot of meaning to him personally and his audience, who shares a sentiment of feeling moved by his music.
With the release of his first-ever music video, directed and filmed by Grace Hensel, whose photographs have been used previously to promote other artists in this column, the music video has been noted as "a very Australian experience, filmed in a very Australian bush." This music video debuted at his home show, where he and his team put effort into making it an experience for the new single, with props and set designs that made the whole show feel like it was taking place in the Australian outback. When asked, he described the show as "a surreal moment, seeing everyone I love and who helped this project."

And it's not just the Spotify listener count that proves he's making it so far; he's also sold out his merch before the tour concluded, including the CD, which included a demo of a song that has yet to be released, called "IN MY HEAD." And when it was announced that he would be opening for No Cigar in his hometown, fans went immediately to Oztix to pay for their tickets so they could help support and be there for his next major show.
His latest single, "ESCAPE YOUR FEEL," has a darker tone than his previous "AGE," which comes as a nice comparison for those who appreciate the different natures of the two. Whether they're fans of the lighter, more positive feel that is "AGE," or want to dig into the darker tones of "ESCAPE YOUR FEEL," the fans are waiting to hear the next big hit.
Farmer also has several songs in the works that could be coming out soon, which would only help his career flourish as his fans eagerly await the next release with baited breath. This has come as good news for those who enjoyed his previous works.
When asked about the upcoming show where he will be opening for No Cigar, he said, "it's a bit of a pinch myself moment seeing my name on posters next to them."
