I discovered the duo DREAMERS a few years ago after stumbling upon "Painkiller" on a Spotify playlist. I immediately added it to my Driving playlist and I've been hooked ever since. DREAMERS have a style and sound that's all their own. Read on for our exclusive interview with Nick Wold.

MSM: If anyone reading this interview hasn’t listened to DREAMERS yet, why should they check you out? What sets your music apart?

DREAMERS: You should check us out if you like rock, punk or grunge, if you want to hear sincere music from the heart that’s not just fluffy pop designed to take your money. If you want that, you should listen to Drake.

MSM: You recently released your EP, Wallow In It. Do you have a favorite song or lyric from this EP?

DREAMERS: In our song ‘Internet Junkie’, I like the lyric, ‘I’m getting dumber the more that I read, thinner the more that I feed’.  There’s something about scrolling endless content online that feels like you’re eating and eating but not getting any nutrients.  I like the imagery in that song.

MSM: How do you keep your music fresh and relevant in an ever-changing industry?

DREAMERS: We don’t.  We harken back to older classics, Nirvana, Beatles, Depeche Mode.  I’ve always been more inspired by great or special things, rather than new things.  I think ‘timeless’ is better than ‘relevant’.

MSM: You’re about to head out on a 26-city tour. What do you enjoy most about touring?

DREAMERS: Days off in hotels, driving through the mountains and forests and deserts, and seeing people who listen to our music.  It makes it all worth it.

MSM: Do you have a favorite song to perform live?

DREAMERS: "Heat Seeker"

MSM: Can you tell us about a particularly memorable performance or moment in your career?

DREAMERS: We got to play Red Rocks in Denver, outside in a canyon in front of 9,000 people.  I had taken Molly the night before, but I had too much so I was still floating a little bit on crystal clouds.  I saw pictures of when The Beatles had played the same stage, Hendrix, Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead.  I had a bunch of friends there at the show and we played great.  There’s been countless hundreds of shows and not every one went so well, so that one is a memory I’ll keep.

MSM: What are your future goals and aspirations as a band, and what steps are you taking to achieve them?

DREAMERS: In the past I would’ve said ‘have a big smash hit and watch the money roll in.’  But now after a long life of music, all I aspire to is to make our next albums the most true and honest rock I can make.  I want to get back to the reason I started on music in the first place, and make something real and free.  And if people don’t like it, they can go and play Minecraft.

MSM: What’s your motto or some good advice that you live by?

DREAMERS: Art is meant to comfort the disturbed, and disturb the comfortable.

MSM: Can you share any interesting or surprising facts about the band or its members?

DREAMERS: Besides for music, my passions are Sci-Fi and computer programming.  I’ll be coming out with my first video game soon.

MSM: Do you have any closing messages for your fans?

DREAMERS: Good food is better than drugs, but good drugs are better than organized religion.  You have only one life, so listen to music, take a deep breath and do what you like.  Only spend time on people who deserve you. And thanks for listening to us!!
