English singer-songwriter, Maisie Peters, brought The Good Witch tour to the NX in Newcastle on the 18th of October, 2023. The sold-out show, supported by Gretta Ray, promised a spellbinding performance and didn’t disappoint.

Australian indie-pop singer, Gretta Ray, opened the show. The 25-year-old songwriter from Melbourne captured the heart of the Tyneside crowd with a high-energy 30-minute set. To date, Gretta has released two studio albums, “Begin To Look Around” in 2021 and her latest album “Positive Spin” in 2023. Gretta delighted fans by belting out her hit songs including “Positive Spin”, “Upgraded”, and “Don’t Date the Teenager”.

The Good Witch is Maisie Peter’s second studio album, released in June this year on Ed Sheeran’s Gingerbread Records. It went straight to number one in the UK charts. The album charts her life experiences of love, loss and relationships and clearly resonates with her fans.

Maisie has just completed a North American Tour and it was clear that her fans were glad to see her return home, as the crowd went wild in anticipation of her arrival on stage in Newcastle.

“The Good Witch” was first up, followed by “Coming of Age” and the crowd sang in full voice, clearly loving every minute. Maisie picked up her guitar for “Body Better”, with hands waving, the energy from the Tyneside crowd was electric.

Maisie delighted her fans, building incredible rapport, by sharing the inspiration behind her songs. She shared her experience of being an uncool 17-year-old writing songs at parties, before whipping the crowd into a frenzy with the hit song “John Hughes Movie”. A medley of hits followed, one of which being a cover of “Night Changes” by One Direction.

The band was introduced to rapturous applause with Jack on drums, Joel on guitar, and Tina on keys. Their chemistry was clear for all to see as Maisie explained they were the inspiration for the next song “The Band and I” written during a tour of North America.

The set finished with a song all about closure called “There It Goes”. Maisie told the crowd, “When I wrote this song I knew the album was finished.” Maisie returned to the stage once more with Gretta Ray for “History of Man” before her final song “Lost the Breakup”.

Maisie delighted everyone with a high-energy performance, which demonstrated her stage presence and star quality, clearly appreciated by the Newcastle fans. The Good Witch UK tour continues and includes a show on the 3rd of November at the OVO Arena in London, where Maisie will play to 12,000 fans, showing just how popular she has become.
